UCT Fair Ruled (as always)

The Upper Cape Tech (UCT) Fair was a success for the third year in a row, for me and my band of sockmonstahs. I met a lot of nice people and saw even more past customers who are very pleased with their monstah(s) they added to their families.

When I first arrived, I saw that they had moved my spot; much to my dismay. However, when I saw my new spot I was more than pleased; I was the first booth you saw when you walked into the cafeteria. A lot of my loyal customers mentioned that this made the sockmonstahs a lot easier to find.

What was even more exciting than awesome spots and good times is that I unveiled a new species of sockmonstah - the sloth!
I was inspired by those weird fuzzy tree dwellers to make these guys part of the sockmonstah family (or sockmonstahidae for you biology nerds). Their body style is slightly different than the traditional sockmonstahs. They can hold on to trees, a ceiling lamp, or an arm via the 3 velcro toes they possess on their hands and feet. What could be more awesome?...

...Stay tuned!

New Editions to the Hoffey Family

Just now, I finished a custom order for the Hoffey family. At Craftfest two weeks ago, they adopted Myles the mint socktopus. They loved him so much they had to invite more sockmonstahs into their family. Here they are Delilah and Bruiser - Delilah is the flowah in case you were wondering.

Christmas orders are best when they are made early, just sayin'.

NEWS FLASH.....

... I've been slacking on blogging. But for good reasons, I assure you.

Cotuit Craftfest

On August 21 and22, the Sockmonstahs and I went to the Cape to Cotuit for Craftfest. We heard all kinds of good stuff about this fair and wanted to attend last year, but by the the time we applied the show was full. I made sure we got in this year and was pleased to find out that not only did it live up to the hype, but the show had exceeded my expectations.

Craftfest was organized, adequately staffed, and well advertised. In fact it was so busy, I didn't have time to take pictures of the set up! The second day was very rainy, but a lot of people still came. I literally ran out of monstahs and left early on Sunday. We will be back at Craftfest next year, most definitely! However, there's a craft fair we will not be returning to...

Saturday Shindigs

I know it's very sad, we loved the August Saturday Shindig in Osterville last year, but not not so much this year. Only one sockmonstah was sold and that's only because a little boy held it hostage until his parent relented and bought it (Fernando) for him - thanks little dude! I met a lot of nice people but wasn't worth the time off from work or the booth fee to go back next year. So we're just gonna stick to the Craftfest in the summer and UCT Holiday fair in November for which I'm already making monstahs - GET EXCITED!

New stuff...

...this week!
At The Black Crow Gallery

On Wednesday, some of the monstahs and I took a trip
to the Black Crow Gallery in East Sandwich. With the variety of art, gifts, and crafts that this small cabin is fortified with, the monstahs decided they didn't want to leave. So I left them there; Cosmo, Confreddy, Bobo "The Terrible, and Punches N. cream are at the Black Crow awaiting your arrival.

On Etsy
Last night, we listed an exciting n
ew Monstah! Peyton Rose made her debut on Etsy and she couldn't look more lovely!
She is our first "Cactus Monstah" and wo
n't be the last. Pictures can't do her justice; her handpainted safety eyes are stunning to say the least and I do believe they are the best one's that I have painted to date. Peyton's nubs have pipe cleaners in them so she may not be appropriate for small kids who like to taste everything. Next Week: New Monstahs @Artisana!

Ay cu rumba!

All kinds of exciting stuff is taking place! So much stuff, infact that I barely have time to blog about it. Here goes...

Etsy - the OG of sockmonstahs selling...

... is going to be a little different for now on. I'm adding a new monstah every week that will only be available on Etsy. Since the monstahs are unique I will not double list - that is list an item on etsy that I also have on sale else where - not only is double listing against Etsy's policies, but it is very risky and can sully our 100% customer satisfaction rating.

This week we listed Electric Bugaloo on Etsy. He is Totally awesome and softer than a baby's bum bum. If you need lessons on being the apex of fly, he will show you the way! To check out electric Buguloo's listing click on the etsy store icon, type in WackyJacky.etsy.com into your browser, or simply click here.

Back at the Black Crow!

Pictured above are Molly, Papa Rainbow, Quetin,
Wilson, and Alister. they are on sale now @ The Black Crow.

At the beginning of July, the sockmonstahs returned to the Black Crow Gallery on Rt. 6A in East Sandwich for our second summer. Wendy and Maureen haved worked hard to reorganize the gallery and added at least 10 new artisans! Pretty awesome, if I do say so myself. I no longer have a display ladder, but Deb - the shop keeper - is working on getting me an even better display.

Sock
monstahs at Artisana!

That's right! the Sockmonstahs are now at Artisana on main street in Onset. Artisana is rad! It's huge and contains all kinds of awesome wares from local artists.

Artisana is owned by Kat Jones who is a creative powerhouse - creator and Artistic Director of Inner light studios and 1/3 of the band Katmandude - Kat Jones' projects enrich the community with art, music, and fun! Kat and her friends created the "Summer of Love Series" which are free concerts every Wednesday night at the band shell in Onset.

Artisana and the Sockmonstahs; talk about good times!
