Ay cu rumba!

All kinds of exciting stuff is taking place! So much stuff, infact that I barely have time to blog about it. Here goes...

Etsy - the OG of sockmonstahs selling...

... is going to be a little different for now on. I'm adding a new monstah every week that will only be available on Etsy. Since the monstahs are unique I will not double list - that is list an item on etsy that I also have on sale else where - not only is double listing against Etsy's policies, but it is very risky and can sully our 100% customer satisfaction rating.

This week we listed Electric Bugaloo on Etsy. He is Totally awesome and softer than a baby's bum bum. If you need lessons on being the apex of fly, he will show you the way! To check out electric Buguloo's listing click on the etsy store icon, type in WackyJacky.etsy.com into your browser, or simply click here.

Back at the Black Crow!

Pictured above are Molly, Papa Rainbow, Quetin,
Wilson, and Alister. they are on sale now @ The Black Crow.

At the beginning of July, the sockmonstahs returned to the Black Crow Gallery on Rt. 6A in East Sandwich for our second summer. Wendy and Maureen haved worked hard to reorganize the gallery and added at least 10 new artisans! Pretty awesome, if I do say so myself. I no longer have a display ladder, but Deb - the shop keeper - is working on getting me an even better display.

Sock
monstahs at Artisana!

That's right! the Sockmonstahs are now at Artisana on main street in Onset. Artisana is rad! It's huge and contains all kinds of awesome wares from local artists.

Artisana is owned by Kat Jones who is a creative powerhouse - creator and Artistic Director of Inner light studios and 1/3 of the band Katmandude - Kat Jones' projects enrich the community with art, music, and fun! Kat and her friends created the "Summer of Love Series" which are free concerts every Wednesday night at the band shell in Onset.

Artisana and the Sockmonstahs; talk about good times!

Oh yeah! Attic got an Overhaulin'!

I cannot express in words how awesome it is that I have a neat, organized work space! I really took a longer than usual hiatus from monstahing this winter for a few reasons but the main one was that we moved to the better apartment in the building - Now we're on the Left side of the duplex, instead of the right. I now know the joys of having a bathroom that doesn't induce depressive mood swings - but, more importantly, my workshop is now in my apartment. (Not because I moved it to me, but rather, I moved to it; it's the same attic I have always used just more awesome.)

Now that we have full access and utilization of the attic's space - before I rented only half of it from my friend who lived here before us - we were creative with our storage to allow for the maximization of usable space, and with the challenge of short walls of the pitched ceiling I think we did pretty well for ourselves. Now, there is a separate area for Monstah Portrait Studio - where as before my sewing and monstah photography were performed in the same place and I had to keep retacking the back drop and moving my machine - and my office is in the other room, separated from from the lint and faux fur that blanket all things electronic.

Other awesome additions to the attic are the eye painting station - where painting safety eyes isn't just convenient, its also fun! - and the Monstah Waiting Room - where completed monstahs go before they go to their new home (or one of the two stores monstahs are sold). With all the improvements to my workspace, we have created a environment where my OCD can be free like the wind - everything has a place and everything is in it's place!

I just finished two monstahs, who rule beyond any comprehension! If these guys are any indication of what's coming ahead for monstahkind, then 2010 will be the best year, yet, for monstahs!

Get excited - new Sockmonstahs will be available soon!
Need something special for someone special? I am now taking custom orders.

Don't call It a Comeback...

...They'll be here for years! Now that the semester is over, I will FINALLY have the time to work on crafting fine sockmonstahs for the masses to enjoy.

I will be returning to the Black Crow on rt. 6A in E. Sandwich - which will be reopening this week on Saturday, May 29th.

About the main website - it's gone for now. My former web host - weebly - is horrible and I exceeded my bandwidth, which I paid for monthly, within the first year of operation. Another awesome feature of their price gouging is that I can't move my domain anywhere else without paying 69$ dollars for it. Believe me, I tried to move the DNS code to no avail. So, I had no choice, I had to let everything expire. I'm thinking of just buying a domain and having this be my main site, but I have my reservations and don't want to run into similar problems that I had in the past.

I'm just really bummed I couldn't keep any of the old content because the site really chronicled the birth of the Sockmonstahs and the concept of Toys in the Attic.

New monstahs will start appearing before you know it; brace yourself!

Holiday Fair at Upper Cape Tech

I am churning out monstahs like nobody's business in preparation of the Holiday Fair @ Upper Cape Tech that will take place next weekend - Sat & Sun, 11/21-22 10am - 3pm.

I hope I get the spot I got last year (cafeteria). I do not want to be in the hallway because there's no space for people to stop and look at your items. I definately don't want to be in the gym, that's where Santa is and I can't handle screaming children for more than a few hours. However, I don't completely blame the children for being scared around an old creepy stranger, attempting to bribe them with presents and requesting the children sit on his lap and be good. Wow, I went some where dark on that one.

Anyway, come by and see awesome sockmonstahs and myself at Upper Cape next weekend!

Random Randomness #2

Well, things are pretty hectic here. Monstahs are still going strong at the Black Crow and things are starting to pick up on etsy. I guess it is the holiday season. It seems weird or early to me, but I am a bit of a curmudgeon and it comes with the territory. Speaking of holidays, The Upper Cape Tech. Handmade Holiday fair is less than a month away (Saturday and Sunday, November 21 and 22, 2009 - 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m). I can't believe it. I am very excited about returning to the fair because it reasonably priced to have a booth for 2 days, the fair includes over 50 vendors, but most of all it is very well run. They bring you lunch (which you pay for) and have volunteers to watch your booth while you browse or pee.

Myron and Thad were both sold on etsy.com this week.

Thad moved to Ohio and Myron is on his way to Canada. I 'm sure they are both going to homes where they will embrace Myron and Thad's monstah ways and will not take offense when they each burp loudly with reckless abandon.
