2010 - We knew ye well!

2010 was an especially kind year to sock monstahs!

  • Custom orders -
Through out the year, many custom orders were received and fulfilled in 2010. Here are a few of our favorites:

Oden is an awesome green Cthulhu special ordered for Brian Fountaine to give to his mother in law. Wow, she has impeccable taste in monstahs!

Patty Cake is a more traditional sock monkey with some sockmonstah notes such as hand painted safety eyes, big bottom lip and super awesome bendy tail. She was made special for Elle Smith's niece.

Honey was made in memorial of a beloved pet for Adam Tate to give to his bereft girl friend for Christmas. A sockmonstah is a lot cheaper than taxidermy and a loss less creepy, too!

Allister was the first dragon ever made and was a custom request from Gary Duffy for his girlfriend's daughter Kelsey. I'm jealous of Kelsey, I wish owned Allister!

A lot of the best ideas for monstahs I get spawn from custom orders; I look forward to what 2011 has in store for sockmonstahs.

  • New Venues -
In addition to The Black Crow Gallery and the UCT Holiday fair which are annual staple for us, We added some other places sockmonstahs can be found:

Artisana located in the center of Onset and could also be called the Awesome Emporium since it is filled to the brim with all kinds of goods from area artists and vendors. Why not get some henna tattoo work done this weekend? Artisana is open year round - 5 days a week.

The Paper Tyger in Falmouth welcomed the sockmonstahs with open arms the December for a few appearances. The Paper Tyger doesn't carry sockmonstahs - they are paper store - but, we will be back in Falmouth at the Paper Tyger periodically, stay tuned!

These venues plus the Cotuit Craftfest this past August made 2010 our most successful year. Try to top that 2011; We dare you!

Party Over Here!

This week the sockmonstahs and I got an awesome write up in the Cape Cod and Standard times. I did the interview about a month ago and wasn't sure when it was going to print. So I was pleasantly surprised when the etsy store, the Black Crow, email, facebook and voice mail were buzzing with activity and interest in the sockmonstahs. I want to thank Caitlin Russell for thinking the sockmonstahs are awesome enough to write about them.
Caitlin Russell's journalism is top notch, but some things the article stated were a little confusing, and I feel like a little clarification is in order. I make sockmonstahs primarily for profit; not every monstah is sold for charity. All charity monstahs have a special designation on their tags in stores, and in their description on etsy. All contributions to the American Cancer Society are channeled through my Relay for Life Team (Electric Avenue). Sorry for the boring disclaimer, but I didn't want our charitable contributions and general operations to be misrepresented.

New monstahs are at the Black Crow and Artisana!
